چکیده

Perennial biofuel and cover crops systems are important for enhancing soil health can provide numerous soil, agricultural, environmental benefits. The study objective was to investigate the effects of on hydraulic properties relative traditional management claypan soils. site included selected practices: crop (CC) no (NC) with corn/soybean rotation, switchgrass (SW), miscanthus (MI). CC mixture consisted cereal rye, hairy vetch, Austrian winter pea. research located at Bradford Research Center in Missouri, USA, implemented a Mexico silt loam. Intact cores (76-mm diam. by 76-mm long) were taken from 0–10, 10–20, 20–30, 30–40 cm depths three plot replicates two sub-samples per replicate depth. Soil evaluated each sample included: saturated conductivity (Ksat), water retention, bulk density, pore size distributions. Results showed test Duncan's least significant differences that treatments MI (1.18 Mg m−3) SW (1.21 had lower values density averaging across depth than (1.27 NC (1.31 m−3). Management significantly increased Ksat 0–10 compared system. increase macroporosity fine mesoporosity as other systems. Slight changes have occurred measured physical system plots. Overall, increasing organic matter more plant roots long-term cropping improve storage productivity.

Assessing Biofuel Crop Invasiveness: A Case Study

BACKGROUND There is widespread interest in biofuel crops as a solution to the world's energy needs, particularly in light of concerns over greenhouse-gas emissions. Despite reservations about their adverse environmental impacts, no attempt has been made to quantify actual, relative or potential invasiveness of terrestrial biofuel crops at an appropriate regional or international scale, and thei...

Genetic and biotechnological approaches for biofuel crop improvement.

Research and development efforts for biofuel production are targeted at converting plant biomass into renewable liquid fuels. Major obstacles for biofuel production include lack of biofuel crop domestication, low oil yields from crop plants as well as recalcitrance of lignocellulose to chemical and enzymatic breakdown. Researchers are expanding the genetic and genomic resources available for cr...

Crop management effect on chemical and biological properties of soil

This study was aimed at evaluating the effect of crop rotation and various tillage systems onthe chemical and biological properties of soil in the years 2013-2015. The first order factorincluded cropping systems: a) crop rotation (pea – winter wheat – spring wheat) and b)monoculture of winter wheat, whereas the second order factor were tillage systems:1) conventional (CT), 2) reduced (RT) and 3...
